What's new in IELTS 2026?

IELTS is undergoing its most significant evolution in a decade. Here's everything Nepali test-takers must know before booking their exam.

📌 Paper-based IELTS being phased out — mid-2026

From mid-2026, IELTS will no longer offer paper-based tests globally. All tests will transition to computer-delivered format. A new "Writing on Paper" option (handwriting the Writing section only) will be available in selected markets. Scores remain fully comparable. Check your local British Council or IDP centre for exact timelines in Nepal.
